Day 1: Beijing-Datong by overnight train
Pick up from your hotel Beijing around 14:00 and transfer to Beijing West Railway Station. Take the daytime train No.615 leaving Beijing around 15:40 and arriving at Datong around 21:45. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Datong ( B,L )
After breakfast at the hotel,you will visit the Yungang Grottoes and Nine Dragon Screen.After the tour,transferred back to your hotel in Datong.
- Yungang Grottoes: The three main sites in China that are famous for their stone sculpture are Dunhuang, Longmen and Yungang. Among these, the Yungang grottoes are considered first among equals, for their tremendous size, ancient history, and relatively complete state of preservation.
- Nine Dragon Screen: Built over 600 years ago, it is presently the oldest and largest glazed screen in China today. It is three times larger than that in Beihai Park, Beijing.
Day 3:Datong-Xian by overnight train No.2671(17:58-next morning 9:14)(B,L,D)
Pick up from your hotel Datong in the morning. First drive to Hanging Temple, 65 km away south-east of Datong.After lunch, move on to Yingxian County to visit the Sakyamuni Wooden Pagoda at Fuoguang Temple in Yingxian County (Yingxian Wooden Pagoda). After dinner, transfer you to Datong Railway Station for overnight train No.2671(17:58-next morning 9:14) for Xian.
- Hanging Temple: It has a history of more than 1,400 years. About 40 buildings survived are scattered halfway up the mountain on the cliff face or slopes, from 26 to 50 meters above the foot of the mountain. The temple buildings which seem to be hanging in midair on the cliffs are unique in structure.
- Sakyamuni Wooden Pagoda: It is the oldest and highest wooden structure in China with about 900 years of history and is regarded as the "First Pagoda in the World" and a gem in the architectural field.
Day 4: Xian (B,L,D)
Arriving in Xian at 09:14am, met by our tour guide and transferred to your hotel in Xian. After lunch, first visit Shaanxi Provincial History Museum. Then move on to Big Goose Pagoda. Lastly come to downtown Xian to visit The Great Mosque. After the day tour,you will enjoy the dumpling dinner and Tang Dynasty Show.
- Shaanxi Procincial History Museum: Built in the architectural style of the Tang Dynasty and exhibits more than 300,000 items including murals, paintings, pottery, coins, as well as bronze, gold and silver objects.
- Big Goose Pagoda: One of the famous Buddhist pagodas in China.It was built to store the scriptures and statues Xuan Zang had brought back from India.
- Great Mosque: the biggest and most preserved complete Chinese existent mosque.
- Tang Dynasty Show: It showcases the costumes, music, and dancing of China's golden age: the Tang dynasty (618-907).
Day 5: Xian tour and Leaving Xian(B,L)
After breakfast,drive to Terracotta Warriors. After lunch, drive back to city center of Xian to visit Xian City Wall. After the tour, transferred to your hotel in Xian, or Xian Train Station, or Xian Airport.
- Terracotta Warriors: The Eighth Wonder of the World. More than 6,000 different looking pottery figures depict the history of the Qin Dynasty from 221 BC-206 BC.
- Xian City Wall: The best preserved, oldest and largest ancient city defense system in China.
