Day 1: Beijing-Datong by overnight train
Pick up from your hotel Beijing around 14:00 and transfer to Beijing West Railway Station. Take the daytime train No.615 leaving Beijing around 15:40 and arriving at Datong around 21:45. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Datong (B,L)
After breakfast at the hotel,you will visit the Yungang Grottoes,Hanging Temple and Sakyamuni Wooden Pagoda.After the tour,transferred to Datong Railway Station and take train No.2463 (23:17 - 06:25) for Pingyao.
- Yungang Grottoes: The three main sites in China that are famous for their stone sculpture are Dunhuang, Longmen and Yungang. Among these, the Yungang grottoes are considered first among equals, for their tremendous size, ancient history, and relatively complete state of preservation.
- Hanging Temple: It has a history of more than 1,400 years. About 40 buildings survived are scattered halfway up the mountain on the cliff face or slopes, from 26 to 50 meters above the foot of the mountain. The temple buildings which seem to be hanging in midair on the cliffs are unique in structure
- Sakyamuni Wooden Pagoda: It is the oldest and highest wooden structure in China with about 900 years of history and is regarded as the "First Pagoda in the World" and a gem in the architectural field.
Day 3:Pingyao (B,L)
Arrival at Pingyao on 06:25.After breakfast,you will visit the Ancient City Wall of Pingyao City, Rishengchang Exchange Shop,the Mingqing Street,Armed Escort Company Museum,County Government Office with lunch included. After the tour, transferred back to your hotel or Airport in Taiyuan or train station in Pingyao( Taiyuan ).
- The city of Pingyao: One of the four remaining well-preserved ancient cities in China. The city wall has a perimeter of 6.4 kilometers and is over 12 meters high and 3.5 meters wide.
- Rishengchang Exchange Shop: It is the earliest bank in China, first opened in the 18th century.Rishengchang was the first money exchange shop in the history of China.
- Ming and Qing Street: It is one of the busy and interesting streets in which to experience ancient Chinese culture. It is 440 long and used to be the commercial center of Pingyao ancient city.
- Armed Escort Company Museum: It offers an eye-opening armed escorts in protecting commerce.Cash moving from one area needed the armed escort firm to thwart of thieving hands.
- County Government Office: An ancient city hall and law court.
Day 4: Pingyao-Xian by overnight train No. 2669(21:38-06:18) ( B )
Today free on your own,tonight transferred to Pingyao Train Station and take overnight train No.2669(21:38-06:18) for Xian.4-bed cabin.
Day 5: Xian(L,D)
Arrived in Xian at 07:46, met and transferred to your hotel in Xian. After lunch,first visit Shaanxi Provincial History Museum.Then move on to Big Goose Pagoda.Lastly come to downtown Xian to visit The Great Mosque.After the day tour,you will enjoy the dumpling dinner and Tang Dynasty Show.
- Shaanxi Procincial History Museum: Built in the architectural style of the Tang Dynasty and exhibits more than 300,000 items including murals, paintings, pottery, coins, as well as bronze, gold and silver objects.
- Big Goose Pagoda: One of the famous Buddhist pagodas in China.It was built to store the scriptures and statues Xuan Zang had brought back from India.
- Great Mosque: the biggest and most preserved complete Chinese existent mosque.
- Tang Dynasty Show: It showcases the costumes, music, and dancing of China's golden age: the Tang dynasty (618-907).
Day 6: Xian-Luoyang (B,L) by high speed train No.G2010 (16:20-17:45)
After breakfast,drive to Terracotta Warriors. After lunch, drive back to city center of Xian to visit Xian City Wall.After the tour in Xian,transferred to Xian Railway Station and take the high speed tran G2010 (16:20-17:45) for Luoyang.Arriving at Luoyang and transfferred to your hotle in Luoyang. The rest of the time is free for you to relax.
- Terracotta Warriors: The Eighth Wonder of the World. More than 6,000 different looking pottery figures depict the history of the Qin Dynasty from 221 BC-206 BC.
- Xian City Wall: The best preserved, oldest and largest ancient city defense system in China.
Day 7: Luoyang (B,L)
Be picked up from hotel in the morning. Then you will visit Shaolin Temple and Kungfu show with lunch included.After the tour, transferred back to Luoyang hotel.
- Shaolin Temple: It is the birthplace of one of the world's famous martial arts movement. The temple is renowned as the No. 1 Temple Under Heaven and was first built in 495 during the Northern Wei period (386 to 534). It was served as an ancestral temple of Buddhism. Nowadays, the temple is world famous for Chinese martial arts, inscribed tablets, murals of the Ming Dynasty, and ancient brick-and-stone pagodas, erected during Tang and Qing dynasties (618 to 1911). The temple is listed in World Heritage Sites in 2010.
- The Kung Fu Show: It is performed by the professinal performance,The Kung Fu Show team from Shaolin Tagou Kung Fu School. Shaolin Kung fu is the most influential martial arts schools in China. In the less than half performance, you will see “Shaolin Boxing” and “Shaolin Stick” typical of Shaolin Kungfu.
Day 8: Luoyang Tour and Leave Luoyang (B,L)
Be picked up from from your hotel in the morning. Drive to visit Longmen Grottoes,Luoyang Museum,White Horse Temple with lunch included.After the tour in Luoyang, you are transferred to Luoyang Railway Station, or Luoyang Airport.
- Longmen Grottoes: A treasure trove for ancient Buddhist cave art. This art was carved during the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), when Buddhism was at its zenith in China.
- Luoyang Museum:The Museum shows over 1,700 cultural and historical relics in 5 showrooms -- a presentation of 5 different social development periods such as the Primitive Society, the Slavery Society, and the Feudal Society.
- White Horse Temple: It is the first Buddhist temple in China, the important cradle of Chins’s buddhism, which was introduced into China from India in 68AD in Eastern Han Dynasty (25 AD – 220 AD) , the same year when the white horse temple was built.
